Mt. Adams Orchards White Salmon, WA

In 1907, James and Effie Dean originally planted 300 acres of dryland Bartlett, D’ Anjou pears and Newtown apples. Since our beginning, we have increased our planted acreage to 750 acres.

In 1948, the Bloxom family gained 100% ownership of Underwood Fruit and Warehouse from the Perham family. During the 1960’s and 1970’s we converted to a fully irrigated orchard using water that is diverted from the glacial flows of the White Salmon river basin.

In 1998 we expanded our presence in the Mid-Columbia area with the purchase of Elk Mountain Orchards. Elk Mt. is 110 acres of prime Hood River orchard ground that is farmed under the management of Mt Adams Orchards.

Mt Adams Orchards is now a modern high density planting of pear and apples. We currently grow D’Anjou, Red D’Anjou, Bartlett, Red Bartlett, Bosc, Forelle, Seckel and Comice pears that are harvested from early August to mid-October

We grow Bartlett and Bosc pears for the organic markets nationwide. Our fruit is packed by Underwood Fruit.

Our sweet cherry production of Bing, Lapin, Sweetheart, Skeena, Regina and Attica is harvested in July and early August. These cherries are packed by The Dalles Fruit.

Mt. Adams Orchards also grow sweet, crisp, long storing Honeycrisp apples that excel in our moderate climate and deep volcanic soils

Integrated pest management is practiced in all aspects of our orchard operations, using the safest and most efficient means to control pests, fungus and disease. We believe in maintaining a sustainable integrated operation balancing the needs of people, plants, environment and profits.

We believe our employees, soils, elevation and climate allow us to produce the highest quality Pears, Apples and Cherries in the world for the eating pleasure of our customers world wide.
